Assistant Teacher
Position Overview
Landmark Preschool is seeking a full-time assistant teacher for its Westport, CT location. The ideal candidate will have flexibility, a positive attitude, and enjoy working with young students.
Job Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
- Aid the classroom teacher in implementing planned activities and lesson plans that support children's age-appropriate development.
- Prepare materials and classroom set-up for class activities and lessons.
- Use appropriate language, interactions, and positive discipline, modeling positive behavior.
- Participate in large and small group activities, providing assistance and support during specials.
- Engage and lead students in learning and play.
- Maintain classroom safety by monitoring children at all times.
- Supervise children appropriately, including during indoor and outdoor recess.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and families, directing parent inquiries to the head teacher.
- Support the head teacher with activity setup/cleanup and classroom support as needed.
- Follow Landmark Preschool's policies and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- At least 2 years of experience working with children; classroom experience a plus.
- Ability to work and move around with young, active children, including regular bending, kneeling, and stretching.
- Experience with technology and proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
This is an hourly position with a pay range of $20-23/hour. Schedules vary. The academic school year runs from August 25, 2026 - June 11, 2027.
