Assistant Teacher
We are seeking Part-time Closer/Floater Teachers to join our team in West Des Moines, IA. Candidates must be available to work at least 2-3 hours each day until 6pm, and any shift between 6:30am and 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Pay
Hourly wage range: $14.40–$15.75, depending on experience.
New Horizon Academy participates in the WAGE$ program (iowaaeyc.org/programs/wages). Teachers are also eligible for Iowa Child Care Assistance, which can cover up to 100% of childcare costs for employees with children attending our schools (hhs.iowa.gov/assistance-programs/child-care-assistance).
Responsibilities
- Inspire, encourage, and celebrate a child’s love of learning daily
- Work in beautifully equipped classrooms with support from knowledgeable staff
- Shape the social and emotional development of young children as a “brain-builder”
Requirements
- Meets or exceeds state qualifications for the position
- Previous experience in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred but not required)
- Must satisfy state-mandated Applicant Background Study
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States
- Must have the physical ability to perform required job duties, with or without accommodations
- Positive work ethic and team-centered attitude
- Willingness to learn and grow as an educator
- Enjoys working with children
