Assistant Teacher

Role And Responsibilities

• Aid the primary teacher in planning and implementing curriculum activities.
• Assist with setting up the indoor and outdoor environments.
• Participate in classroom record keeping.
• Supervise and manage a group of children, fostering a nurturing and engaging atmosphere.
• Ensure the well-being, health, and safety of children.
• Support the primary teacher in daily activities and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and toys daily according to hygiene procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
• Implement weekly activities promoting a healthy lifestyle.
• Perform daily health checks and conduct ongoing developmental evaluations.
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress, needs, and interests.
• Cultivate positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
• Contribute to the effective operation of In The Zone programs.
• Attend required staff meetings, workshops, and functions.
• Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Pass an MSDH background check and maintain a professional appearance.
• Substitute for teachers as needed.

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• At least 18 years old and bondable.
• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of instructional experience in a licensed childcare facility.
• Current child/adult CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Eligible for and pass an MSDH background check.

Physical Requirements

• Walking, squatting, climbing, hearing, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
• Pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Clear speech and good vision.
• Physically capable of participating in high-energy activities with children.
