Functions
- Counsel, aid and teach children in need of educational direction.
- Aid the child care teacher in the classroom.
- Plan and execute a program to meet the educational, social, developmental, and health needs of the children.
- Keep equipment and materials accessible and in good condition.
- Report damaged or hazardous equipment to the supervisor.
- Plan and supervise classroom arrangements.
- Plan the use of community resources to enrich the educational content of the program.
- Develop educational goals appropriate to the age and developmental level of the children.
Responsibilities for Professional Growth
- Share knowledge and understanding of the community with colleagues.
- Attend and participate in conferences and staff meetings.
- Perform routine chores related to the program.
- Attend mandatory training in early childhood education.
Develops and Maintains a Positive Working Relationship with Parents
- Adhere to the approved plan for sharing information with parents.
- Attend and participate in group parent meetings.
- Respect the confidentiality of parent and child information.
Kitchen and Preparation of Food
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with USDA guidelines.
- Ensure food is prepared in a sanitary and timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment and supplies.
Effect on End Results
- Maintain compliance with contractual obligations and regulations.
- Deliver services effectively and humanely.
- Promote the ability of parents to pursue important activities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and 2 years of experience or Associate Child Development Credential from the National Association for the Education of Young Children and 1 year of classroom teaching experience.
- Food Safety Certification.
- Preference given to applicants with teaching experience in a social service setting.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $38,620.40 per year.
