Assistant Teacher (2026 - 2027 School Year)

Performance Responsibilities

• Supervises students as assigned by Classroom Teacher.
• Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Counsels children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
• Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.
• Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Helps maintain individual records for each child.
• Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children.
• Aids teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
• Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods.
• Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
• Assumes responsibility of tasks assigned by the Principal or supervisory teacher.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

• Moves freely around the classroom.
• Communicate effectively.
• Uses hands to grasp items during the day.
• Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• To talk or to hear.
• Squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward.
• Use hand strength to grasp items during the day.
• Lift and/or move up to thirty pounds.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.

Terms of Employment

Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
