About the role

Mayo Clinic Global Security Asst. Supervisors oversee Security Officers on assigned shifts, participate in hiring and training, and support the department's mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input, recommend actions, and disseminate information regarding Security Officers' activities.
  • Hire and train new Security Officers.
  • Assist with staff appraisals and perform timekeeping duties as needed.
  • Perform routine security officer functions as needed.
  • Support and instill Mayo Clinic's mission, vision, and values within the department.
  • Handle emergencies and respond to complaints and service calls.
  • Manage altercations and emergency crises in a professional manner.
  • Operate and communicate on a two-way radio.
  • Make effective decisions as an emergency first responder.
  • Work as a team member with other emergency responders, including law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel.
  • Travel between multiple hospitals/clinics for security and protection assignments.
  • Work nights and weekends as required by emergency or special situations.
  • Carry and deploy a taser as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with one year of security, healthcare, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • Associates degree with three years of security, healthcare, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • HS/GED with five years of security, healthcare, law enforcement, or military experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience in patrolling, incident report writing, defensive tactics, emergency response, lock/unlock procedures, door access, and CCTV camera operation.
  • Technical aptitude to work with Security Technology is preferred.
  • Previous security experience.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong sense of customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Pay and Schedule

$27.99- $37.78/hour; benefits eligible; full-time schedule primarily Monday-Thursday 12pm-10:30pm, with one weekend (Friday-Sunday) per month or as operations dictate.
