About the role

The Crew Leader coordinates an operating cell work area and its support services, assists in training employees, and facilitates communication between management and employees.

Responsibilities

• Ensures work area and equipment are safe and clean.
• Verifies all employees have received adequate machine-specific safety training prior to operating equipment.
• Assists in scheduling production and balancing workloads between teams or work areas.
• Reviews pre-shift machine inspection sheets and addresses concerns.
• Checks production sheets and communicates with employees.
• Inspects materials and finished products to ensure quality and compliance with customer specifications.
• Implements continuous improvement principles to enhance current processes.
• Conducts Sunrise meetings and monthly safety talks, and provides training to employees.
• Directs activities in alignment with Company policies, procedures, and applicable law.
• Leads employees in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.
• Participates in completing employee performance evaluations.
• Prepares production reports and maintains required records.
• Ensures work area complies with established safety standards.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in a related area; 1 to 3 years preferred.
• Working knowledge of production reporting and scheduling.
• Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species.
• Preferred understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
