About the role
The Assistant Supervisor will prioritize the customer experience through active supervision and enhance the service culture. As part of the Store Leadership Team, you will communicate expectations and priorities to associates, create a fun and engaging store environment, and advocate for the customer. This role leads to Sales and Customer Experience Manager or Operations and Visual Merchandising Manager.
Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. Hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.
Responsibilities
- Provide active supervision by continually circulating the selling floor, directing and redirecting colleagues to optimize the customer experience and support sales volume.
- Manage customer service issues to completion and customer flow on high-traffic days, reassigning resources as needed.
- Lead store activities to ensure customer readiness and exceptional presentation standards.
- Alert Sales and Customer Experience Manager or Operations and Visual Merchandising Manager of any opportunities not aligned with goals.
- Role model building lasting customer relationships, provide fast feedback and redirection to colleagues, and recognize colleagues for practicing these behaviors.
- Execute store opening and closing procedures, including access to alarm systems and keys.
- Manage workload reports and lead processes as necessary.
- Help build a proactive, solution-oriented, customer-centric culture to ensure consistent customer experiences.
- Meet with Sales and Customer Experience Manager or Operations and Visual Merchandising Manager to monitor sales floor or support activities.
- Oversee colleague execution and completion of daily Fulfillment responsibilities.
- Provide feedback and contribute observations via SCX and OVM at colleague quarterly check-ins.
- Have practical knowledge of store systems (POS, MPOS, RF equipment, MyClient, MyStore App) and ability to educate others.
- Assist colleagues with timekeeping issues (e.g., clocking corrections, paid time off requests).
- Assist Colleague Support in resolving employee relations issues.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of related experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups.
- Resourceful self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team, adapting quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods (at least two consecutive hours) of standing/walking around the store or department.
- Frequent use of computers and other technology necessary to perform job duties, including handheld electronic equipment.
- Frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs.
