About the role
The Cumberland Valley School District (CVSD) is seeking an Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education to lead the secondary program from Grades 6-12. CVSD is a fast-growing district with two middle schools, a ninth-grade academy, and a high school.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the secondary program, including operational planning, organizational leadership, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support principals in areas such as student discipline, student support, school climate, attendance, and parent/community concerns.
- Collaborate with building and district leadership teams to ensure alignment of district initiatives, student support systems, and organizational expectations.
- Develop and administer departmental and building budgets and support long-range planning related to enrollment growth, staffing, and programming needs.
- Utilize data and organizational metrics to support informed decision-making, monitor program effectiveness, and guide continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, Board policies, and administrative procedures.
- Represent the District in meetings, presentations, committees, and collaborative partnerships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience and success leading secondary schools and supporting building-level leadership teams in a complex educational organization.
- Successful secondary principal experience.
- Demonstrated strength in organizational leadership, student services, personnel supervision, and systems management.
- A Principal certification (K-12, elementary or secondary).
- A master's degree.
- A Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility, though progress toward the Letter will be considered.
- A doctorate or work toward a doctorate degree is preferred.
Qualifications
- A criminal record check (less than one year old).
- A PA Child Abuse History Clearance (less than one year old).
- An FBI Finger Print Clearance (less than one year old).
- A TB Test/Mantoux (less than three months old).
- A physical examination (if applicable) (less than one year old).
