About the role

The Assistant Superintendent provides assistance to the Superintendent in overseeing timely construction of each home. This entry-level building position plays an important role in producing QA-ready homes by coordinating various aspects of the construction process in an efficient, safe manner through effective assistant management of trades, suppliers, and staff. This is a training position to learn the Superintendent role. It is imperative that the Assistant Superintendent maintain a mindset of continual improvement and work diligently to foster a culture of continual improvement within the team, department, and the company.

Responsibilities

  • Learns all aspects of the Production Department, including scheduling, quality initiatives, and quality checks.
  • Learns the Building Code, OSHA safety regulations, and SWPPP guidelines.
  • Learns how to effectively use BuildPro.
  • Assists Superintendent with in-line inspections, enforcing quality standards, and prevention procedures.
  • Attends all superintendent meetings and team meetings.
  • Helps in loss prevention by locking homes and communicating with subcontractors.
  • Assists Superintendent in community appearance by regularly walking homes and production sites to confirm appearance of all job site equipment, field office, and materials align with View Homes’ standards and do not interfere with marketing efforts or occupied homes.
  • Learns the EPO process, coding, and how to prevent them in the future.
  • Learns all duties of the Superintendent Job Description to prepare for career growth.
  • Ensures professional presentation while maintaining an insightful and enthusiastic team-focused environment.
  • Maintains positive communication channels to help the flow of information from department to department.
  • Participates in training when needed, including learning product knowledge, procedural proficiencies, and computer software.
  • Adheres to departmental operating guidelines and View Homes’ Employee Manual.
  • Fosters, encourages, and rewards a fun, positive, successful values-based culture.
  • Drives for the Company using either a Company vehicle or a personal/rental vehicle to conduct Company business more than 50% of the time.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Vocational certification in this field or exceptional direct experience (preferred).
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in project/construction management in these or related fields (required).
  • Able to use computers, including CRT/screens, keyboards, and mouse/pointing devices.
  • Valid and in-state Driver’s License (required).
