About the Role

A critical member of the Specialized retail network, the Assistant Store Manager balances excellence in retail operations with a passion for people and the power of a great brand. This role encourages successful, profitable retail and acts as a pacesetter of outstanding brand experiences in-store, as directed by the Store Manager. The Assistant Store Manager works collaboratively and hands-on with staff and local riders as a host, brand advocate, and customer service expert.

This role also works cross-functionally with other members of the Specialized team to support store-based events founded on education, advocacy, and brand/retail innovation. The Assistant Store Manager ensures all staff deliver exceptional rider service, enhance rider satisfaction, and aids in meeting sales and profitability goals set by the Store Manager and Retail Leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the store’s representative and set an example for staff by leading retail teammates and directing all daily operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Assist the Store Manager in day-to-day operations, including scheduling, inventory counts, and team development.
  • Coach and support new and existing retail teammates.
  • Assist in driving the overall profitability of the retail store, covering or exceeding the store’s run cost to maximize contribution to topline revenue.
  • Ensure transformative, inclusive, ride-focused, locally authentic, and collaborative experiences for staff and riders, aligned with The Specialized Way.
  • Track progress toward weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals and assist with store performance objectives.
  • Aid in establishing and sustaining long-term relationships with key riders and retailers based on their preferences, behaviors, and purchases.
  • Maintain organizational and cleanliness standards for the retail location.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all special orders and home deliveries.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager to manage rider expectations and achieve service metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Operations/Receiving Manager to assist with inventory management, including receival, processing, and merchandising of new and existing inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Passion for cycling and the Specialized brand.
  • Former retail experience with 1+ years preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with riders and team members.
  • Ability to work as business dictates, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extensive periods, with occasional walking, kneeling, or reaching.
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs. or more using proper lifting techniques.
