Assistant Store Manager - San Jose Area

This role serves as a developmental step towards becoming a Store Manager, with a goal of achieving readiness within 12 to 18 months. Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in achieving financial and operational goals by driving sales and leading the team to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
• Use reporting and feedback tools to inform decisions, track team progress toward goals, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Create and support a positive team culture through active coaching, effective communication, and sound judgment to foster camaraderie and employee retention.
• Contribute to employee development by training, providing regular coaching and feedback, and addressing performance issues in partnership with the Store Manager.
• Assist in recruiting, hiring, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels to maintain coverage and performance.
• Manage daily coffeebar operations, including inventory control, cash handling, cleanliness, and compliance with safety and labor standards.
• Support Peet’s commitment to improving conditions in coffee communities through initiatives like Enveritas.

Requirements

• 2 years of management or supervisory experience within the service, food industry, or equivalent related experience.
• Open availability and ability to work 40 hours per week, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Ability to comply with Peet’s Employment of Minors policies and supervise minors.
• Legal eligibility to work in the country where the job is located.
• At least 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to perform various physical tasks during the work shift (see Physical Requirements in the job description).
• Desire and ability to develop into the Store Manager role within 12 to 18 months, incorporating feedback into performance.

Pay

The pay scale for this position is between $28.00 and $31.00 per hour, annualizing to $58,240 - $64,480 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The specific hourly wage offered will depend on factors such as years of experience, industry knowledge, skills, geographic location, and market conditions. Pay increases may be awarded based on strong performance, role changes, or market conditions.
