Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: Two years of retail sales experience and one year of supervisory experience
- Clearances: Must be able to obtain acceptable results for required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check and Department of Human Services- FBI Fingerprints.
- The Assistant Store Manager functions under the direct supervision of the Senior Store Manager or Store Manager.
- The Assistant Store Manager, in the absence of the Senior Store Manager or Store Manager, supervises all associates working in the retail store.
- Stocks and maintains interior and exterior of store in a neat, clean and orderly manner.
- This includes processing donated merchandise, placing new stock on the sales floor, pulling the old stock off the sales floor, cleaning the store, returning out-of-place merchandise to its proper location and straightening merchandise that has been disarranged.
- Motivates employees to reach production guidelines.
- Uses cash register to total sales, accepts payments and authorizes voids, returns, exchanges, and credit for merchandise.
- Balances cash register receipts, prepares daily bank deposits and maintains records of store transactions for each business day as scheduled.
- Ensures that correct sales reports are submitted on a daily basis, as directed by the manager or assistant manager.
- Maintain safe and appropriate conditions in shopping and backroom area.
- Aids customers/donors as required by either selling merchandise or accepting donations of used goods.

- Follows company policies and safety procedures for all undertakings while on the job.
- In the Manager’s absence trains and assists other store employees.
- May assist with conducting workplace orientations for new hires as needed.
- Ensures that all personnel packets are complete, scanned to HR and are maintained in a secure manner.
- May have more supervisory responsibility if the manager is absent or on vacation.
- Informs the Manager of significant issues or incidents, including the personnel and customer needs.
- Regular attendance is required with the ability to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including evenings, weekends and occasionally long hours.
- Maintain excellent hygiene/grooming standards.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers, donors, co-workers, and staff.
- Knowledge of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as furniture and household items.
- Perform basic job duties.
