Assistant Store Manager
The Management in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role designed to prepare employees for promotion to Assistant Store Manager. This role involves assisting in managing store operations, providing customer service, and supporting various store activities.
- Assist in managing the day-to-day business activities and functions of every store department.
- Provide support as necessary to the Store Manager, including production, sales, and distribution of products.
- Support the Store Manager in gathering and analyzing sales and cost data to recommend effective action and promotional plans.
- Serve as a role model to provide exemplary customer service and performance.
- Supervise proper merchandise sale prices, product levels, inventory logistics, and store presentations.
- Advocate for all stakeholders to follow company policies and procedures, especially in safety, security, and loss prevention.
- Supervise all store members to effectively perform Omni channel services and initiatives, and handle accounting, administrative, maintenance, and marketing duties.
- Aid in all personnel activities such as coordinating staff work schedules, assigning duties, recruiting, selecting, onboarding, training, evaluating, promoting, demoting, and terminating employees.
- Evaluate all department and employee performances to meet company objectives and financial projections.
- Investigate and document customer service and employee complaints, working with internal representatives to address issues.
- Support environmental and sustainability initiatives addressing recycling, conservation, and waste management.
Qualification
To participate in the program, the trainee must meet the qualifications of the Assistant Store Manager, which include:
- An Associate degree in Business Administration or related fields.
- One year of managerial experience or equivalent in a retail setting.
- Bilingual in English/Mandarin, English/Cantonese, or English/Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to work assigned schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Currently possess or have the ability to possess a Food Handler’s certificate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Assistant Store Manager should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of food production process, product lines, and labeling.
- Understanding of employment laws, including compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations established by the company and government.
- Advanced attention to detail, communication, leadership, and time management skills.
- Advanced active listening, execution, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to establish goals and guide employees to complete duties effectively.
- Ability to inspect and evaluate the quality of products.
- Proficiency with computer programs and software to enter data and process information.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing and walking are required. The Assistant Store Manager must also have the ability to use manual dexterity to grasp, manipulate, and assemble objects, work in environments that may be wet and dry, and handle tasks that involve lifting up to 50 pounds with appropriate equipment.
