About The Role

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for its retail team at the Kailua Location Thrift Store. This position plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the store, providing leadership and support to employees, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Taking an active role and partnering with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the store.
  • All day-to-day store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Providing coaching, training, and development to the Store Employees.
  • Maintaining good Customer/Donor/Community relations; resolving complaints; and ensuring quick and efficient service.
  • Communicating any personnel issues with Management, in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Issuing disciplinary warnings, conference reports, employee evaluations, and setting goals as needed in coordination with the HR Generalist/Coordinator and District Sales Manager.
  • Ensuring store is maintained at ARC Merchandising Standards, adequate inventory levels on hand.
  • BRP (Back Room Processing) - Ensuring Material Handlers are working effectively and efficiently to meet daily processing goals.
  • Adequate amount of change at the beginning of each day, safeguarding cash in registers and banking of cash receipts as per ARCC policy.
  • Assisting the Store Manager on ensuring that safety measures are established and maintained consistent with ARC policy and governmental regulations.
  • Implementing appropriate loss prevention measures.
  • Performing other written or verbal duties as may be assigned by Management, Retail Directors, and Command Administration.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous Retail Management/Supervisory experience.
  • Accurate handling of POS/Cash Register operations and cash transactions.
  • Valid Driver’s license with proof of insurance.
  • Pass a background check, including a Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
  • Effective communication skills with management, fellow store employees, customers, and donors.

Physical Demands

  • Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks, and miscellaneous carts.
  • Move product up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform various repetitive motion tasks.
  • Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Schedule

The stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and associates must be flexible to ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
