About the role
Spring Step Shoes is hiring an Assistant Store Manager for its San Marcos Premium Outlets location in San Marcos, Texas. As a key member of the store leadership team, you will support the Store Manager in driving sales, delivering exceptional customer service, and representing the Spring Step brand with integrity and enthusiasm.
Responsibilities
- Partner with store leadership to foster a positive, results‑driven culture of sales and performance.
- Support a team‑selling environment that benefits the brand, associates, and customers.
- Participate in store recruitment, focusing on retaining and developing top talent.
- Teach, coach, and train associates according to Store Manager and field leadership guidelines.
- Handle performance management and employee‑relations issues in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Ensure proper merchandising of products per company directives and assist with marketing initiatives and store displays.
- Provide world‑class customer service and instill a customer‑first attitude within the sales team.
- Oversee store asset security, including daily bank deposits, opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and compliance with store balances.
- Drive a sales culture using incentives, effective communication, and consistent brand promotion.
- Use daily productivity targets to staff the store appropriately and communicate goals clearly.
- Maintain loss‑prevention standards through strict adherence to risk‑management policies, stock counts, and inventory controls.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of prior retail experience in a sales‑driven environment.
- Knowledge of the footwear or fashion industry and retail sector is a plus.
- Proven track record in sales and service execution.
- Proficiency with basic software and experience using POS systems.
- Strong problem‑solving ability with a focus on delivering excellent customer service.
- Interpersonal skills: values people, engages positively, and forms strong connections.
- Customer‑first mindset and a desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Team‑oriented attitude with a desire to work cooperatively.
- Leadership qualities: motivates, inspires, and creates a productive, positive culture.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, climb an 8‑foot ladder, stand for long periods, and bend as necessary.
