Assistant Store Manager

About the role

The Assistant Store Manager supports store operations with a customer‑focused approach. Working under the Store Manager’s guidance, they supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, handle paperwork, and assist with deposits.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service
• Open and close the store
• Schedule and train employees
• Manage inventory
• Ensure merchandise displays align with planograms
• Maintain financial integrity through cash handling, cashier accountability, and security practices
• Supervise staff and manage merchandise presentation
• Handle paperwork and assist with bank deposits
• Oversee store functions in the absence of the Store Manager

Qualifications

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Problem‑solving abilities and adaptability
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to interpret documents and perform mathematical calculations
• Cash register operation and report generation experience
• Knowledge of cash handling, security, and safety policies
• Valid vehicle for bank deposits

Experience & Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• At least one year of experience in a retail environment (preferred)
• Six months of supervisory experience (preferred)

Working Conditions

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 40‑55 pounds
• Handling merchandise and operating equipment, occasional climbing
• Fast‑paced environment with moderate noise
• Potential outdoor weather exposure
• Travel required for banking and store visits
