Assistant Store Manager

About the role

The Rescue Mission is seeking a Full-Time Assistant Store Manager (ASM) at our New Hartford Thrifty Shopper. In this role, you will assist the Store Manager in executing store activities with an emphasis on maximizing sales, profitability, and service through effective management and leadership. The ASM provides training, direction, and leadership to volunteers and sales associates while creating a positive, engaging shopping experience. Additionally, the ASM acts as a Manager in Charge and provides feedback to the Store Manager regarding challenges and opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Fill in for the Store Manager when needed.
• Supervise employees, prioritize, and delegate tasks to staff.
• Oversee completion of assignments and manage labor expenses.
• Process all paperwork and reports.
• Manage employee relations and adhere to store opening/closing procedures.
• Assist customers by answering questions, locating merchandise, sizing/pricing items, and following store procedures.
• Manage and communicate all customer concerns.
• Maintain store appearance by cleaning, stocking, rotating, and pulling merchandise.
• Prepare the store for seasonal changes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
• 3+ years of retail experience and customer service, plus 1+ year of leadership experience.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods, visually check color-coded racks and sizing, bend, lift, and work some weekends/evenings.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of inventory and display work, and experience with cash registers is desired.

Pay

$19 per hour.
