The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in various aspects of the store, including sales, customer service, and store operations. This position also involves managing the store during the Store Manager's absence and overseeing the team during opposing shifts.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the store team members in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise the customer service levels on the retail showroom, including executing customer service programs (such as Related sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot, etc.).
  • Work with the store manager to ensure adequate staffing at the retail sales counter, particularly during peak business hours.
  • Aid in setting team member goals, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring team members, and ensuring they stay current on their training.
  • Support the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management to select qualified team members.
  • Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy, process buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner, and contact customers upon shipment arrivals as needed.
  • Utilize the electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
  • Process retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently and friendlily, issue refunds accurately using the correct payment methods, and stage returned merchandise correctly.
  • Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before products leave the store.
  • Communicate Zipline messages, delegate and complete Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, such as adhering to the posted work schedule, approving changes/deviations, and ensuring team members clock in/out correctly.
  • Perform all store opening/closing duties, including day end procedures, verifying/securing money/deposits, preparing bank deposits, ensuring all night security lights are on, locking doors and securing the building, arming/disarming security alarms, and checking/securing/locking delivery vehicles.
  • Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in-store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.

Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities

  • Sales Specialist Training
  • Assistant Manager Certification and RSS Certification
  • Certified Parts Professional Certification (desired)
  • ASE Certification (desired)
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)

Additional compensation includes annual, quarterly performance, or premium payments, which may vary per hour based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
