The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts supports the Store Manager in areas of sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. Key responsibilities include leading the store team in excellent customer service, supervising customer service levels, managing staffing during peak hours, assisting in hiring processes, ensuring proper handling of returns and exchanges, and performing store opening/closing duties.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
- Supervise the customer service levels on the retail showroom, including execution of customer service programs.
- Work with the store manager to ensure adequate staffing at the retail sales counter, especially during peak business hours.
- Aid in setting team member goals, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
- Assist in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
- Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy.
- Process buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner.
- Handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
- Communicate Zipline messages, delegate and complete Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, including adherence to the posted work schedule and proper clocking in/out.
- Perform store opening/closing duties, including day end procedures, money verification, deposit preparation, security checks, and vehicle locking/unlocking.
- Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in-store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities
- Sales Specialist Training
- Assistant Manager Certification
- RSS Certification
- Certified Parts Professional Certification (Desired)
- ASE Certification (Desired)
- Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
