Assistant Store Manager

The Assistant Store Manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts supports the Store Manager in areas of sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. Key responsibilities include leading the store team, managing customer service levels, staffing the retail sales counter, setting team member goals, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring. The position also involves assisting with the hiring process, ensuring proper communication of Zipline messages, delegating and completing Image Maker and merchandising tasks, performing store opening/closing duties, and maintaining the store environment.

Essential Job Functions

• Lead the store team in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
• Supervise customer service levels on the retail showroom, including execution of customer service programs.
• Work with the store manager to ensure adequate staffing of the retail sales counter, especially during peak hours.
• Aid in setting team member goals, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
• Assist in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management.
• Ensure the telephone is answered according to company policy.
• Process buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders in a timely manner.
• Handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
• Process retail customer returns and exchanges in an efficient and friendly manner, issuing accurate refunds using the correct payment methods.
• Invoice merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before product leaves the store.
• Communicate and delegate Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, including adherence to the posted work schedule, approval of changes/deviations, and proper clocking in/out.
• Perform all store opening/closing duties, including day end procedures, verifying/securing money/deposits, preparing bank deposits, ensuring security, and managing deliveries.
• Maintain the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in-store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.

• Sales Specialist Training
• Assistant Manager Certification
• RSS Certification
• Certified Parts Professional Certification
• ASE Certification
• Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
