About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the daily operations of the store in the absence of the Store Manager. This includes supporting the management and execution of store operations to meet financial and sales targets, fostering positive relationships with both employees and customers, and maintaining open communication with the broader organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage store operations to meet financial and sales goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with associates and customers
  • Communicate effectively with the management team and all store associates
  • Support the hiring, training, and development of store associates
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Manage store finances and assets
  • Maintain store layout and merchandise according to corporate standards
  • Resolve inventory shrink issues and ensure compliance with security and food safety standards

Qualifications

  • College degree or relevant retail management experience
  • Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and perform multiple tasks
  • Accredited as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or willing to complete company-provided training

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, including overhead lifting, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
  • Push/pull up to 40 lbs. regularly
  • Stand or walk 100% of the time
  • Frequent reaching, grasping, and lifting individual stock items
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and squatting
  • Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
  • Use computers, calculators, and communication systems

Preferred Requirements

  • Responsible for managing assigned staff
  • Provide training and development to assigned associates
  • Ensure effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards
  • Achieve financial objectives: sales, payroll percent gross margin, shrink, MPP net percent effectiveness, and control of other expenses
  • Ensure enthusiastic customer awareness and provide courteous, friendly customer service
  • Understand and apply company policies and procedures
  • Complete understanding of the causes and means for resolving inventory shrink issues in the assigned departments
  • Observe and ensure compliance with company security, safety, and food safety standards
  • Have a total understanding of the Training guides and standard practices for Center Store
