Assistant Store Director
About the role
This role supports the Store Director by ensuring all departments are fully staffed, trained, and operating efficiently. It involves maintaining store profitability by monitoring purchasing, stocking, selling, payroll, and other expenses and income. The role also includes managing the selection, scheduling, and supervision of others, greeting customers, maintaining a clean and customer-friendly department, and having product knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Regular inspections of all areas, providing feedback to department managers.
- Review reports, take action, and communicate information as needed.
- Engage in financial planning including budgeting, staffing/payroll, facility maintenance and upgrading.
- Communicate and work with SpartanNash personnel.
- Train others to perform all department activities and functions.
- Manage the selection, scheduling, and supervision of others.
- Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, and customer-friendly department.
- Have familiarity with all products carried in the department; know differences in price, taste, preparation, use etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) in Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Three years of experience in a retail grocery environment with increasing levels of responsibility.
- One year of experience in a supervisory or lead role, preferably in a retail environment.
- Proficient Computer (email, spreadsheets, etc).
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
- Accounting/Bookkeeping skills.
- Interpret/Analyze Financials.
- Develop/Manage Budgets.
- Delegate/Direct/Implement.
- Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products.
- Detail Oriented.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the retail grocery industry, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required, and familiarity with point-of-sale systems is preferred.
Skills
Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a passion for customer service are essential. Knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, and financial analysis is beneficial.

Pay
Salary range $48,000 - $65,000 depending on experience.
Schedule
Full-time schedule is typically 40 hours per week, with some flexibility based on business needs.
