About the role

The Gwinnett County Solicitor General’s Office is currently accepting resumes for an Assistant Solicitor General.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating and prosecuting misdemeanor crimes and Title 40 traffic violations
  • Reviewing case files and ensuring that all relevant evidence has been secured, properly documented, and organizing files for efficient investigation, prosecution and disposition
  • Interviewing lay, expert, and law enforcement witnesses
  • Analyzing case files and making charging decisions
  • Researching and writing motions and court orders
  • Negotiating with opposing counsel
  • Representing the State in Bench or Jury trials
  • Other duties as assigned

Assignment may be in one of three divisions: trial line, jail court, or Recorders Court.

Qualifications

  • Licensed member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia
  • Ability to multitask and work under occasionally stressful time constraints
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and leadership skills
  • Commitment to serving the community and working with the public
