Assistant Softball Coach
About the role
Viterbo University is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach to assist the head coach in managing all operations of the program including recruiting, coaching, scheduling, and fundraising.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the coordination of the pitching staff, practices, and workouts
- Aid in planning, execution, and management of practice and games
- Help with opponent scouts and film breakdown
- Support on and off-campus recruiting and fundraising events
- Assist with various administrative tasks and responsibilities
- Support the overall holistic development of student athletes
- Adhere to institutional policies and NAIA and Viterbo University rules and regulations
- Support and embrace the NAIA's "Champions of Character" initiative
- Perform other responsibilities as delegated or assigned by the head softball coach
Qualifications
- Experience playing fastpitch softball (college level preferred)
- Pitching knowledge and experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport and ability to teach fundamentals and skill development
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Organized and dependable
- Reliable transportation
- Attention to detail and accurate record keeping skills
- Ability to foster and build a culture consistent with the views of the head coach
- Background in education or coaching desired
Benefits
This is a seasonal part-time position. Hours and days worked will vary depending on the time of the year (most intensive workload during the spring season). Attendance at all games and practices is expected. Pay is based on experience and time-commitment.
