Assistant Softball Coach-1st Assistant/Pitching Coach Recruiting Coordinator
About the role
The Assistant Softball Coach-1st Assistant will serve in all phases of a competitive division 1 softball program in accordance with the University of the Incarnate Word, Southland Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. A primary focus will be serving as the primary pitching coach. This position also assists in the daily management and coordination of recruiting functions. The Assistant Softball Coach-1st Assistant reports to the Head Softball Coach.
Responsibilities
- Must exhibit good judgment in advising and counseling student-athletes, adjusting to the ever-changing culture.
- Ability to identify and participate in the resolution of departmental/institutional problems with continuous quality improvement as a goal.
- Ability to hold live batting practice.
- Ability to effectively enhance team effectiveness through dependability and positive influences.
- Ability to review and evaluate film, live practice, scrimmages and games of prospective student athletes to enhance the talent level of student-athletes being brought to the university.
- Ability to consistently follow the mission of the university.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the university, Southland Conference, and the NCAA.
Requirements
- Required Education: Bachelors Degree.
- Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of collegiate softball coaching or playing experience (Division 1 level).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with synergy and ARMs systems, Experience with Tru Media or other scouting platforms.
- Required Certifications, Licenses Or Registrations: Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.
Work Environment
Business hours of Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with flexibility; extended hours as required, including weekends, evenings and some holidays based on team schedule.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift equipment, tools, and/or materials weighing up to 25 pounds waist high, Ability to effectively move about to appropriately demonstrate plays and drills in this sport, as well as sideline coach during games.
Pay
Salary: $44,802 Annualized
Schedule
Full Time, with a desired start date of 09/01/2026.
