Assistant Shipping Manager
Position Objective
The purpose of this position is to support the Shipping Manager in maintaining the operation of the receipt, storage, and distribution of all raw materials and finished products. Also supervises the distribution and inventory of products and materials sent to See’s retail shops, licensees, and seasonal gift centers.
Responsibilities
- Oversees night shift order filling operation.
- Maintains See’s standards for accuracy and timeliness of orders.
- Assists in managing the receipt, storage and distribution of raw materials, finished goods, and supplies.
- Participates in the supervision of vendor contracts pertaining to distribution (contract or common carriers) and cold storage (third-party warehouse).
- Aids in the management of all warehouse personnel, including training and development and performance management of supervisory and hourly employees.
- Manages in accordance with the union contract. Schedules hiring according to the contract; new employee testing and hiring as needed.
- Plans and schedules product availability and manpower assignments for the Night Shift for shop orders and special orders.
- Captures and coordinates activities of the Shipping Department within the PSG and other departments.
- Aids in the monitoring of the product and supply inventory in all warehouse locations, including month-end and 6-month physical inventories.
- Responsible for the accuracy of ROSS Warehouse system.
- Aids the facility manager in the maintenance of warehouses and grounds.
- Responsible for maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all warehouse locations.
- Implements See’s Safety Program within the department.
- Aids in the implementation of company-wide OSHA-regulated training programs.
- Maintains visibility in warehouse locations to monitor manual and equipment operations and quality of product handling, storage, and distribution.
- Participates and leads various meetings, including departmental, safety, and GMP.
Qualifications
- Three to five years of management or supervisory experience in warehouse and distribution operations in a food manufacturing environment.
- Excellent management and communication skills.
- Bachelor degree in business preferred.
- Experience in automated inventory control systems.
- PC proficient in Excel and Word.
- Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese preferred.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is expected to be $90,000 - $115,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, in addition to a full range of generous medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
