Assistant, Secondary Teacher Part-time (EOY w/exchange 26-27)

Essential Duties

• Affords individual students or groups of students instruction in all curricular areas as directed by the teacher.
• Collaborates with teachers to develop special strategies for reinforcing skills and concepts based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
• Operates and cares for equipment and materials for instructional purposes within the assigned classroom(s).
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring individual and/or groups of students in various settings.
• Interacts positively with students, parents, and colleagues, facilitating positive interactions among students.
• Alerts the teacher to any problems or special information about individual students.
• Participates in in-service training programs for professional growth.
• Assists with school routines and transitions.
• Assists in checking materials, supervising, and assessing students as directed by the teacher.
• Assists with student attendance procedures, record keeping, collecting money, ordering materials, and other tasks as assigned.

Education And Experience

• Completion of an Associate's Degree or two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours, or ability to pass a formal assessment (Workkey and 96 hours of in-service training), or completion of the NC DOL Apprenticeship Program, or completion of the NC ATA Professional Development.
• Desirable: Associate's Degree with a concentration in Education, more than two years of classroom experience.
