Assistant Safety Manager

About the role

Responsible for assisting the Plant Safety Manager in all safety, health, and fire safety activities and programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.

• 1/3 of daily job duties will be production floor visibility, engagement, auditing, and coaching
• 2/3 of daily job duties will be divided into the following assignments:
  • Assist with accident investigation
  • Management of the company’s safety inquiries (i.e., near miss, safety suggestions)
  • Respond to safety inquiries on all levels regarding safety concerns
  • Assist the safety manager in ISO 45001 development and implementation & with initiatives and goals
  • Apply safety programs and policies to meet company goals
  • Perform OSHA compliance audits & WF policy audits
  • Lead Behavior Based Safety initiatives at the facility
  • Administrative work (i.e., filing papers, AS400 data entry, etc.)

Requirements

• Associate degree in safety and/or actively pursuing a safety degree (3-year maximum timeline)
• Completion of OSHA 10-hour session & knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Foundry/Leadership training & Kaizen/6S (Continuous Improvement)
• Product Knowledge (DWI’s, CS’s, QP’s, etc.)
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 management system documentation/system
• Applied knowledge of safety policies and procedures
• Experience working with all levels of organization
• Knowledge and ability to audit safety systems and plant facilities

Travel Requirements

• Annual Travel: Assist peer review team at any facility, attend one professional development opportunity per year, and assist other facilities as needed
