About the role
Responsible for assisting the Plant Safety Manager in all safety, health, and fire safety activities and programs to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.
- 1/3 of daily job duties will be production floor visibility, engagement, auditing, and coaching
- 2/3 of daily job duties will be divided into the following assignments:
- Assist with accident investigation
- Management of the company’s safety inquiries (i.e., near miss, safety suggestions)
- Respond to safety inquiries on all levels regarding safety concerns
- Assist the safety manager in ISO 45001 development and implementation & with initiatives and goals
- Apply safety programs and policies to meet company goals
- Perform OSHA compliance audits & WF policy audits
- Lead Behavior Based Safety initiatives at the facility
- Administrative work (i.e., filing papers, AS400 data entry, etc.)
Requirements
- Associate degree in safety and/or actively pursuing a safety degree (3-year maximum timeline)
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour session & knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Foundry/Leadership training & Kaizen/6S (Continuous Improvement)
- Product Knowledge (DWI’s, CS’s, QP’s, etc.)
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 management system documentation/system
- Applied knowledge of safety policies and procedures
- Experience working with all levels of organization
- Knowledge and ability to audit safety systems and plant facilities

- Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for safety risk
- Self-motivated and organized, able to prioritize workload
- Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, and judgment skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills & presentation skills including development of materials
- Strong desire to maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees
Travel Requirements
- Annual Travel: Assist peer review team at any facility, attend one professional development opportunity per year, and assist other facilities as needed
