About the Role
The Assistant Restaurant Leader supports the Restaurant Leader in day-to-day operations, upholding Raising Cane’s standards and culture. The role involves working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with extended physical exertion (walking, standing, lifting, bending) and interacting with customers. Work includes both indoor and outdoor tasks in varied temperatures, handling food products, allergens, industrial equipment, and commercial cleaning products requiring personal protective equipment.
Responsibilities
- Hire and terminate all hourly, non-management crewmembers
- Own the onboarding, status change, and payroll process for hourly crewmembers
- Create crewmember work and training schedules
- Manage performance of hourly crewmembers (development, coaching, redirective communication, documentation, and performance management)
- Act as manager on duty; open and close the restaurant
- Manage cash handling and ensure accountability
- Enforce Raising Cane’s policies and standards
- Execute shift management and uphold operations and safety standards
- Use required tools, forms, and logs to support shift execution and document results
- Deploy crewmembers during shifts
- Provide exemplary customer service
- Utilize reward and recognition programs for crewmembers
- Authorize employee functions requiring manager approval (e.g., discounts, promotions, timeclock overrides)
- Ensure restaurant cleanliness and facility maintenance
- Complete other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple changing priorities
- Self-driven, flexible, and highly energetic with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
- Skilled in problem-solving, goal-setting, and action planning
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and adaptable to new systems
- Able to work varied shifts (days, evenings, weekends) and travel for work-related functions
- 3+ years of restaurant or retail management experience
- New restaurant opening experience preferred
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
- Possess a valid driver’s license
