Assistant Resident Engineer - NYC
Job Summary
About the role
The New York City office of Brown and Caldwell is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer with experience in the construction of complex water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality control and assurance inspections and report on findings.
- Cookordinate and oversee non-conformance reporting and closeout.
- Cookordinate contractor or subcontractor activities and ensure adherence to project plans.
- Define project scopes and objectives.
- Monitor project progress and provide detailed reports to stakeholders.
- Monitor project schedules and ensure adherence to timelines.
- Aid in complex RFIs and provide accurate responses.
- Implement change management processes and communicate changes effectively.
- Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Cookordination of health and safety requirements to ensure the project meets company safety requirements.
- Oversee contractor or subcontractor punch list activities to meet project closeout requirements.
- Reporting of subcontractor and vendor budget performance and change management.
- Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
Qualifications
- Proficient in construction management and project management techniques and practices.
- Strong skills in managing contractor or subcontractor activities, monitoring progress, and managing schedules.
- Excellent understanding of scope definition and ability to manage changes effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of contracts.
- Ability to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Typical minimum of 5 years of related work experience in construction management or related field.
- Preferred professional experience specifically in the design and construction administration of municipal infrastructure, water, and wastewater facilities.
- A Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field or equivalent experience is required.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) in New York or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months of hire preferred.
- A Certified Construction Manager (CCM) through CMAA preferred.

Pay
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Schedule
Location C: $102,000 - $140,000
