Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets project plans, specifications, permits, and other pertinent contract documents; exercises sound engineering and construction judgement.
- Makes sure construction follows the project plans and specifications.
- Knows the details of the contracts and references specific to the projects.
- Documents and reports any issues or problems that arise, and suggests solutions.
- Makes sure the contractor follows safety rules and regulations.
- Attends and conducts safety meetings, and prepares safety documentation.
- Records daily construction progress using diaries and photographs.
- Measures, calculates, and documents the quantity of materials used according to procedures.
- Supports the construction project team in preparing and monitoring change orders.
- Updates As-Built drawings.
- Coordinates surveys, materials testing, and sampling.
- Holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering.
- Has 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in construction inspection, or 5-7+ years of general construction experience.
- Understands highway, bridge, and public works construction.
- Has depth and knowledge in construction management applications.
- A valid PE license in the State of California is preferred.
- Proficient in MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
- Has strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Can build and maintain professional relationships with a variety of people and personalities.
- Willing to travel.
- Has a valid driver’s license and meets and maintains driver eligibility requirements.
