Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) - JFK Airport
About the role
As an Assistant Resident Engineer, you will oversee construction activities on aviation and civil infrastructure projects at JFK Airport. This role supports the Resident Engineer by managing day-to-day construction operations, coordinating with contractors and airport stakeholders, reviewing project documentation, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with contract requirements.
- Manage daily construction operations and support the Resident Engineer.
- Coordinate with contractors, field staff, and airport operations.
- Review RFIs, submittals, contractor payments, and project documentation.
- Supervise field inspectors and ensure quality, safety, and contract compliance.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress.
- Prepare change orders, extra work estimates, and project reports.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 10+ years of construction management or inspection experience on civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of contract administration and project documentation.
- OSHA-30 certification.
- ACI Concrete Special Inspector and other construction safety certifications preferred.
- Experience with eBuilder and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a SIDA badge.
- Availability for nights and weekends as needed.
Pay
The anticipated compensation range for this position is $70–$90/hr. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
