About the Role

The Gerecht Lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University seeks an Assistant Research Professor to plan, supervise, and direct research in stem cell and vascular biology and engineering.

This position offers opportunities to supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, lead projects or team research initiatives, develop grant applications, and collaborate with faculty in the Pratt School of Engineering and the School of Medicine at Duke University.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in molecular biology techniques, including genetic modification of stem cells, flow cytometry, and confocal microscopy.
  • Lead the development of study design, sample or data collection, data analysis, results interpretation, manuscript writing, and grant proposal preparation.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Collaborate with faculty across Duke University on research initiatives.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in biomedical/bioengineering, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of research experience after a doctoral degree (strongly preferred).
  • Record of verifiable and relevant published research.
  • Potential to obtain extramural funding (strongly preferred).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
