Job Summary The Assistant Ready-Mix Plant Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager with the overall supervision of one or more ready-mix plants or departments. Will assist the Plant Manager with production oversight, operational improvements, and employee leadership with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental compliance. This position works closely with the Plant Manager and other departments, i.e., Sales, Finance, Environmental, Safety, and Human Resources. Compensation Responsibilities Assist with overseeing ready-mix plant operation activitiesCompliance and enforcement of governmental rules and regulations, company policies and proceduresCoordinate, consult, & maintain the continuity of plant operations along with the Plant Manager, Quality Control, and MaintenanceAssistance with providing safety training and development of all personnel, including training, certifications, staffing, and performance evaluationsFacilitate the enforcement of all safety and environmental programs and policiesEnvironmental, OSHA, MSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT), and other regulatory complianceAssist with Capital Equipment budgeting, as necessarySupport the overseeing of plant and equipment maintenanceCollaborate and assist Plant Manager in areas of goal setting, sales, customer service, and staff developmentAid with directing, coaching, and developing employees ensuring compliance with company policiesAssist with annual budgeting for locationsAssistance in tracking and the creation of productivity reports; perform analytics as requiredLead projects, as necessary/required by the Plant Manager Education Field work experience and/or college education at any levelRelevant operations certifications, i.e., industry-specific training a plus Requirements/Qualifications Minimum 5-7 years of experience running a ready-mix operation, including ancillary functions such as yard production and product deliveryExperience with OSHA/MSHA regulations and requirementsKnowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirementsExperience managing groups of employees in one or more locationsExperience implementing training programs for drivers including driving technique, truck maintenance, product delivery, ticketing, payments, and customer serviceProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skillsStrong oral and written communications skills aptitudeCustomer service orientation Preferred Experience in a vertically integrated construction materials organization preferredExperience with SAP Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing. For work that will be performed in the San Francisco area, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for employment.
