Responsibilities

  • Assist the Clinical/Neuropsychologist in conducting and developing a range of complex Neuropsychological assessments and evaluations.
  • Implement relevant interventions and develop rehabilitation programs for residents with brain, stroke, and spinal cord injuries, as well as complex neurological disorders and progressive neurological conditions.
  • Communicate sensitive and sometimes challenging information to residents, their relatives, support workers, carers, and friends, managing adverse reactions safely.
  • Provide expert neuro-psychological advice and support to other professionals, assisting with residents' diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Undertake risk assessments related to cognition and behavior, and devise guidelines and management plans for the rest of the team to follow.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of working within a related setting as an assistant psychologist.
  • An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with neurological problems and experience of working with challenging behavior.
  • Experience of using psychological approaches for individual-based therapy or group-based therapy.
  • An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with neurological problems.
  • An understanding of the needs and difficulties of adults across the age spectrum.
  • The ability to apply existing theoretical knowledge to a neuropsychological context.
  • A commitment to making a real difference to the lives of our patients.
  • Excellent communication skills, a great attitude towards teamwork, and a desire to lead on patient care.
