Assistant Property Manager
About the role
Roofstock is a technology company that operates a property management platform, and this role bridges both worlds. As an Assistant Property Manager focused on single-family rentals (SFR), you'll manage a geographically dispersed portfolio of individual homes for investors. Your work will involve triage, coordination, and relationship management rather than traditional onsite property management tasks like leasing traffic or unit turnovers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain portfolio performance to meet each investor’s goals by overseeing R&M workflows, leasing activity, and delinquency tracking.
- Use Roofstock’s proprietary tech stack to coordinate with centralized teams, rather than managing onsite staff directly.
- Resolve issues with root-cause analysis to prevent recurring problems.
- Represent investors in eviction-related court proceedings when required.
- Cross-sell Roofstock’s broader real estate products through investor conversations.
Requirements
- Active Texas real estate license (required).
- At least two years of experience in residential or commercial property management or real estate operations.
- Prior experience working directly with property owners or investors (preferred).
- Comfort with cost and revenue management, including interpreting performance data and identifying NOI concerns.
- Fluency across multiple property management software platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly for remote investor relations.
- Self-direction: this is a remote role with a fast-growing portfolio.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within your assigned area at least 10% of the time.
Career Growth
SFR management at scale is an emerging field, and early fluency in it builds transferable skills quickly. Managing a dispersed portfolio sharpens your ability to work through systems rather than proximity, a skill increasingly valuable in institutional property management across all asset classes. The investor-relations component develops communication skills applicable to senior PM roles, asset management, or acquisitions. This role offers a credible entry point for those transitioning from conventional multifamily to tech-forward single-family operations at an institutional scale.
Pay
$60,000 base salary.
Schedule
Fully remote within Texas.
