About the role
HHDC is seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager to join our property management team at a Section 8 senior housing community in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have affordable housing experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to support day-to-day property operations.
Schedule
Full-Time: 40 hours per week
Monday–Friday
Pay
$20.00–$21.20 per hour
Responsibilities
- Assists the Property Manager with daily property operations.
- Processes resident recertifications, rent calculations, leases, and required documentation.
- Conducts regular inspections of grounds and common areas.
- Monitors vacant units and make-ready status.
- Assists with rent collection, delinquency follow-up, and eviction procedures.
- Conducts resident home visits and community outreach as needed.
- Serves as a liaison between residents and community agencies.
- Assists with oversight of office staff, maintenance staff, and contractors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; some college preferred.
- Affordable housing experience required.
- Minimum 2 years of multifamily property management experience.
- Must have or obtain an Illinois Leasing Agent License within 6 months of hire.
- Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and regulations.
- Strong customer service and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and property management software.
- Vehicle, insurance, and good driving record required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
