Assistant Property Manager
About The Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds
HKC Staten Island is a 75-acre property that is home to three children's day camps. HKC is a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving the Jewish day camp community at three locations. As a seasonal organization, HKC employs approximately 90 staff members who provide maintenance and janitorial services, aquatics supervision and security. Together, we work to provide a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment for the camps and children who call HKC home.
About the role
The Assistant Property Manager works closely with the Property Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance and upkeep of the HKC property. This includes overall management of the property including the repair of buildings, grounds, pools, vehicles and equipment. The Assistant Manager will also assist with landscaping and field management.
This position has an important leadership component. You'll help manage, train, mentor and support maintenance staff, assign work, monitor progress and help ensure that projects and daily tasks are completed safely and to HKC's standards. The Assistant Manager will also help coordinate schedule and prioritize work based on camp and property needs, managing work orders and tracking completed work.
This is a hands-on leadership position – you won't be spending your days behind a desk. A major focus of this position is preventative maintenance and mechanical repair, for landscaping equipment, small engines and vehicles such as ATVs, UTVs, golf carts and trucks. You may also be mowing a field, painting, or addressing a minor plumbing or electrical issue. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading from the front—providing direction to the team while also being willing to grab a tool and work alongside them.
