About the role

Bowman has an opening for an Assistant Project Manager, Traffic Engineering to join our team. The position can be based out of Boston, MA, Taunton, MA, Westfield, MA, or Lincoln, RI.

Responsibilities

• Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution.
• Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution.
• Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
• Supervise the work of project personnel to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards.
• Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff as a key component to their professional development.
• Work closely with more senior members to learn about and assist with transportation engineering and planning work.
• Aid in leading regular project staff meetings.
• Aid in marketing the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
• Cook with other disciplines and internal services/groups/offices as necessary.
• Work independently and with proficiency in completing technical project tasks as needed for numerous elements of a project.
• Aid in project management or direction of tasks on projects and monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget.
• Aid in budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and client management tasks.
• Draft transmittals, memos, meeting minutes, letters, proposals, and other documentation/communications.
• Prepare reports, plans, specifications, construction schedules, cost estimates, permits and/or designs for projects.
• Aid in developing the scope of work for projects and development of the plan to accomplish projects.
• Maintain project deliverable schedules and compile project status reports.
• Provide technical assistance in the resolution of project challenges and provide technical quality control of multiple assigned projects.
• Prepare client presentations and attend public meetings.
• Review project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and other factors.
• Aid in preparation of monthly billings/project invoices.
• Serve as the liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and project teams, related to project elements, such as technical requirements, completion requirements, and billing inquiries.
• Lead in the preparation of proposals.
• Lead the submission of technical product for a variety of project types.
• Supervise the work of project staff to ensure satisfaction of the highest professional standards.
• Follow established firm's goals, SOPs and QA/QC procedures and assist in the QA/QC review of technical work of other staff.
• Aid and mentor junior staff.
• Prepare and serve in a lead role on various analyses and concept design aspects of engineering projects which may include traffic studies, corridor/regional studies, safety studies, and other associated engineering services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required.
• EIT Registration required, or alternatively, nine or more (9+) years of successful transportation engineering experience required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or ability to receive within six (6) months strongly preferred.
• Experience with the preparation of construction plans and/or studies for roadway or traffic projects required.
• Experience directing tasks and performing QA/QC required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site strongly preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of computer aided software such as Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, VISSIM, SIDRA, and/or BlueBeam.
• Knowledge of the Department of Transportation (DOT), permitting agency and industry design, permitting and construction standards, policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of Federal and State ADA Standards and Guidelines.

Pay

Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Nightly shifts may be required.
