Assistant Project Manager- Industrial
As an Assistant Project Manager - Industrial at Weitz, you’ll help build lasting structures and strong partnerships, ensuring clients receive premier results every time. At the forefront, you will ensure safe and successful management of the build from concept to completion, with quality, schedule, and budget delivered as promised.
This is a full-time, mid-level, on-site position in Cedar Rapids, IA. Some travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Profitably manage a small project individually, or a larger project with a Project Manager’s oversight
- Assist with creating and updating the project schedule
- Negotiate, issue, and execute subcontract and vendor change orders within delegated authority
- Price and negotiate owner change orders within delegated authority
- Approve subcontractor and vendor pay applications
- Assist in the preconstruction and buy-out processes
- Draft accurate scopes of work to be included in subcontracts and/or purchase order agreements
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of the project plan and updates
- Monitor material and equipment deliveries/shipping commitments to ensure project team is aware of status and potential project schedule impacts
- Ensure subcontract agreements and amendments are issued and follow up if necessary
- Understand contract terms and obligations to ensure work in progress is within scope
- Assist in the resolution of issues with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and owners
- Contribute to ensuring project completion is on time or ahead of schedule and with the expected level of profitability
- Oversee RFI process if necessary; coordinate with project team; verify impact and pricing
- Complete monthly project status reports (MPSR), owner billings, and financial risk assessments
- Assist with project proposals and presentations as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- An industry-related college degree is required; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- 2-5 years of construction project management experience is required
- LEAN principles experience is desirable
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire
