About the Team

Our Energy Group builds projects from the field to the grid, including solar, battery storage, substations, EV charging, microgrids, and converter stations. We handle programs of all sizes, from small sites to thousands of acres, and are committed to environmental responsibility. We’ve built some of the nation’s largest utility-scale solar plants and installed more EV charging stations in California than any other contractor.

About the Role

We’re seeking an Assistant Project Manager to positively impact complex construction projects. Assistant Project Managers (APM) are key to coordination between the field team, project team, and customers. You will maintain strong partnerships with vendors and subcontractors and assist in reviewing and tracking project activities, including:

  • Request for proposals, change orders, submittals, and tracking logs
  • Facilitating and documenting team meetings
  • Directing the work of Project Engineers and Project Coordinators in partnership with the Project Manager and field team
  • Partnering with the scheduling department to populate CEI schedules
  • Identifying cost impacts associated with RFIs, submittals, and design changes
  • Pricing change orders consistently and in a timely manner for review and approval
  • Managing close-out documents
  • Coordinating commissioning activities with third parties and tracking open items
  • Coordinating accurate material releases on time and consistent with project documents
  • Tracking material releases, changes, and coordinating delivery with the construction schedule

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the go-to person to resolve issues or potential problem areas
  • Actively improve or change processes with innovative and entrepreneurial thinking
  • Supervise and provide guidance to others
  • Lead team meetings and provide guidance to Project Engineers and Project Coordinators

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred
  • Three (3) or more years of experience specifically as a Project Engineer in electrical construction, or MEP experience in general contracting
  • Minimum five (5)+ years of related experience, including some time managing smaller projects
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States

Skills

  • Prior experience working on semi-remote jobsites, supervising others
  • Renewables/large electrical/data center build experience highly desired
  • Good working knowledge of MS applications including Excel
  • Prior experience in electrical estimating and accurately estimating change order pricing
  • Experience with Accubid estimating software preferred
  • Scheduling ability with Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera P6 preferred
  • Knowledge of Electrical Code and Civil Construction
