Assistant Project Manager - Data Center Construction
About the role
We’re seeking an Assistant Project Manager ready to positively impact a complex construction project. At Cupertino Electric, Assistant Project Managers (APMs) are key to coordination between the field team, project team, and our customers. APMs are expected to maintain exceptional working partnerships with vendors and subcontractors and assist in the review and tracking of project activities, including change orders, submittals, tracking logs, and related project documents.
You’ll facilitate learning for yourself and others, drive team meetings, and direct the work of Project Engineers and Project Coordinators in partnership with the Project Manager and field team. You will also create standardization procedures and documentation for other sites, as well as mentor Project Engineers on standard procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain exceptional working partnerships with vendors and subcontractors
- Aid in the review and tracking of project activities, including change orders, submittals, tracking logs, and related project documents
- Facilitate learning for yourself and others
- Drive team meetings
- Direct the work of Project Engineers and Project Coordinators in partnership with the Project Manager and field team
- Create standardization procedures and documentation for other sites
- Mentor Project Engineers on standard procedures
Requirements
- Three (3) or more years of experience specifically as a Project Engineer in electrical construction, or MEP experience in general contracting
- Minimum five (5)+ years of related experience, including some time managing smaller projects
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred.
Skills
You bring innovative and entrepreneurial thinking to a project with prior experience supervising and/or providing guidance to others. You possess technical knowledge and communication skills, which are vital to an Assistant Project Manager’s success. You have experience providing in-house support to Project Managers such as coordinating, tracking, and managing project activities and documentation. You bring a willingness to learn and are on the lookout for ways to improve existing processes.
