We seek an Assistant Project Manager to help lead projects for our clients, coordinate project teams, and serve as our clients’ best partner. Responsibilities
- Manage smaller projects from inception through completion.
- Assist in establishing and managing client relationships across sectors including government agencies, private customers, contractors, architects, and engineers.
- Manage project finances including budgeting, invoicing, and collections.
- Articulate client goals and objectives; plan and manage scope, schedule, and budget in coordination with leadership to ensure on-time, within-scope, within-budget delivery.
- Assess technical feasibility of client goals with department directors.
- Support proposal preparation efforts.
- Prepare project meeting agendas and minutes, facilitate meetings, and track action items.
- Organize project files and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of prior work experience in engineering or architectural design, project/team leadership, or management.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, graphical, and written) with the ability to convey ideas clearly.
- Proficiency with MS Office and OneNote; experience with Smartsheet and Deltek Vision (or similar ERP system) is preferred.
- Ability to learn new software quickly.
- Knowledge of AIA standard contracts and forms is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents.
- Strong listening skills and respectful interactions.
- Positive outlook, coaching mentality, and willingness to learn.
- Self-confidence, honesty, and commitment.
- Willingness to accommodate overnight travel by car and air, and to work overtime as required.
- Ability to prioritize critical activities, plan ahead, and determine next steps.
- Experience in architectural and engineering design, coordination, documentation, and construction is preferred; willingness to learn this sector is required.
Qualifications
- Education: BS in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent from an accredited college or university; BS in Architecture or Engineering is preferred.
- Professional: PMP or PSMJ’s AECPM Certification and/or Licensed Architect or PE designation is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in design, project management, engineering, or architecture; experience managing multi-discipline commercial, government, or retail projects is desired.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit; talk and hear.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
