About the Role
This entry-level internship is designed for undergraduate students and current employees who desire to grow into a management role (project management, superintending, scheduling, safety, etc.). The Assistant Project Engineer supports the project team with administrative and engineering functions associated with construction projects.
Responsibilities
Technical Skills
- Assist with job office set up
- Assist the project team with the initial setup of CMiC, including Submittal Log Registry
- Prepare and maintain Submittal Logs
- Assist the project team with the initial setup of PlanGrid to organize contract documents
- Manage progress photo documentation via PlanGrid
- Enter RFIs in CMiC and distribute to appropriate project team members
- Prepare and maintain RFI Logs in CMiC
- Post RFIs to Contract Documents and maintain accuracy of project as-builts
- Update the Material Procurement Log and assist with expediting procurement of materials/equipment
- Work with Project Engineers, Senior Project Engineers, and Assistant Project Managers to compile contract closeout documents (O&M manuals, As-Builts, etc.)
- Attend project meetings and assist in preparation/distribution of meeting minutes
- Assist in the creation and organization of all closeout binders
Management Skills
- Assist with the procurement of closeout submittals
- Prepare and distribute punch lists and maintain weekly updates in PlanGrid
- Assist Superintendents with schedule maintenance
- Assist in the procurement of all front-end submittals
- Follow up with subcontractors and material suppliers to ensure timely material deliveries

Requirements
- Proficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Basic understanding of scheduling and CMiC applications
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of basic construction administration processes (construction documents, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and material procurement)
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and navigate work areas under construction when visiting job sites
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects/tools; ability to sit, talk, hear, and stand throughout the workday
- May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock
- Noise levels range from moderate to very loud
