Tenure-track assistant professorship in Catholic systematic theology at the University of Notre Dame, starting August 23, 2027.

About the Role

All subspecialties within systematic theology are welcome. Applicants should articulate their methodological approaches, subspecialty expertise(s), and how these contribute to Notre Dame’s mission of scholarship “in the service of ‘faith seeking understanding,’” exploring “the meaning, interrelatedness, and claims to the truth of the Christian tradition’s basic expressions of faith.”

Responsibilities

  • Research and publication
  • Teaching and mentoring students at doctoral, pre-doctoral, ministerial, and undergraduate levels
  • Service to the department and university

Requirements

  • Evidence of a field-leading contribution to systematic theology
  • Capacity to engage the intellectual mission of the department
  • Sympathy with the Catholic identity and mission of the University of Notre Dame

Qualifications

  • Entry-level candidates must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in Theology or a closely related field, or have completed all but dissertation with successful defense by August 1, 2027
  • Advanced-level candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Theology or a closely related field
