About the role

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Human Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of human genetics, and may include expertise in one or more of the following: computational biology, statistical genetics, population genetics, biomedical informatics, complex genetics, clinical genetics, pharmacogenetics/genomics, functional genomics, structural variation analysis, cancer genetics, human phenomics, and genomic medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities may include the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as formal lecture opportunities within the department.
  • Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient or outpatient services at CHOP’s Main campus and other sites.
  • Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing collaborative and independent research programs related to human genetics, co-supervision of postdoctoral fellows, students, and research staff, coordinating NIH-funded grant efforts with local, national, and international collaborators, and participation in writing grants, reports, and manuscripts.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree.
  • The candidate must be board certified in medical genetics and genomics.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in human genetics, with potential specialization in computational biology, statistical genetics, population genetics, biomedical informatics, complex genetics, clinical genetics, pharmacogenetics/genomics, functional genomics, structural variation analysis, cancer genetics, human phenomics, and genomic medicine.

Skills

  • Ability to teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Ability to provide inpatient or outpatient services at CHOP’s Main campus and other sites.
  • Ability to develop and lead collaborative and independent research programs related to human genetics.
  • Ability to coordinate NIH-funded grant efforts with local, national, and international collaborators.
