About the role

Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of Surgery. The successful candidate will join an established group of nationally known surgeons. Our current staff of 5 cardiac surgeons performs approximately 2000 cardiac surgical procedures annually. The position supports the work of primary surgeons, procurement coverage, and acute care needs. The appointee will participate in the full spectrum of a cardiac surgical practice. In addition, the appointee will have the opportunity to acquire skills in advanced techniques including minimally invasive valve surgery and valve repair; aortic surgery; transplantation and mechanical support; robotics; and catheter-based approaches to aortic disease and valvular repair/replacement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the work of primary surgeons, procurement coverage, and acute care needs.
  • Participate in the full spectrum of a cardiac surgical practice.
  • Acquire skills in advanced techniques including minimally invasive valve surgery and valve repair; aortic surgery; transplantation and mechanical support; robotics; and catheter-based approaches to aortic disease and valvular repair/replacement.

Requirements

  • Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a medical doctorate or equivalent.
  • Hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of New Jersey.
  • Have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in CT Surgery.

Qualifications

  • Completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in CT Surgery.

Pay

The candidate would be expected to meet requirements for an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery and will be compensated commensurately.

Schedule

This practice will be exclusively based at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH).

RWJUH is the primary teaching hospital for Rutgers RWJMS.
