Assistant Professor of Sales and Strategy
San Diego State University’s Marketing Department at Fowler College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sales and Strategy, beginning August 18, 2027.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, AACSB-accredited business school with a strong regional, national, and international reputation. The Marketing Department’s faculty are active scholars in consumer behavior, marketing management, strategy, and sales management, with expertise spanning experience design, sensory marketing, digital marketing, marketing analytics, societal impact, and sustainability. Their research appears in leading journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Advertising, and Journal of Public Policy and Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a vigorous, independent program of research, scholarship, or creative activity.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in marketing, with a focus on sales and strategy.
- Engage in campus and professional service activities.
- Interact effectively with the business community.
- Demonstrate commitment to inclusive excellence through past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two of the university’s “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Marketing or a related field, completed by the first day of the Fall 2027 semester.
- Record of original research, scholarly, or creative accomplishments.
- Demonstrated capacity to develop a strong research agenda and publish in quality, refereed journals.
- Experience or potential for participation in professional conferences and an active, innovative research agenda.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in the discipline and its methodologies.
- Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding.
- Proficiency in interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to research, scholarship, or teaching.
- University-level teaching experience.
- Preparation for teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated interest in relevant service to the university, community, and profession.
- Engagement in service or research with diverse populations in higher education.
- Understanding of the mission and goals of the academic unit and SDSU.
Pay
The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule and may be revised based on collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is $140,000 to $147,000. Salary placement will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, with potential for higher offers in limited circumstances.
