About the Role

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System and a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students, welcomes applicants for an Assistant Professor of Public Administration to begin Fall 2027. This tenure-track position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery, teaching and learning, community engagement and public service, with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Public Administration and Political Science
  • Conduct research
  • Participate in governance of the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program
  • Serve on departmental, college, university, and professional committees
  • Mentor students

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Public Administration or a related field (ABD candidates considered but must have degree conferred before August 16, 2027)
  • Primary research and teaching interests in program evaluation and public policy
  • Ability to teach courses in research methods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research and teaching interests that complement current faculty and strengthen undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong teaching skills
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or potential to publish in top scholarly journals
  • Potential for or prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding
